Film review – Nomadland (2020)

Nomadland

One of the most intriguing aspects of watching cinema in 2020 and 2021 is encountering films that unintentionally feel like ‘COVID-19 films’ due to the association of them being viewed during this era of lockdowns, uncertainty and loss. Many such films are those that evoke feelings of existential dread; feelings which have become all the more potent over the past 18-months. However, in the case of a film like Nomadland, it is the presentation of another way of life that resonates during this time when so many people around the world are questioning if, when the COVID crisis is over, they really want to go back to the lifestyle they had before.
