Films I loved in December 2020

Robyn Goodfellowe (voiced by Honor Kneafsey) in Wolfwalkers

Set in 17th century Ireland, the beautifully animated Wolfwalkers uses its folklore-inspired story of humans and wolves to delve into issues about authoritarian rule and environmental destruction, while also delivering a tender tale about adolescent friendship and growing-up.
Released on Apple TV+ 11 December 2020

Joe Gardner (voiced by Jamie Foxx) and 22 (voiced by Tina Fey) in Soul

Visually, conceptually and thematically Soul is a triumph. Pixar films have explored metaphysical realms and death before, but Soul‘s adventures in the afterlife go even further, making it an incredibly ambitious family film, and all the more satisfying that it is so fun and joyful.
