Going in to watch Bran Nue Dae I found myself on the edge of my seat hoping to hell that it wasn't going to fall on its arse.

Much to my disappointment, it did.

Worst ending I've experienced since I read a Jackie Collins novel.

*** CINEMA AUTOPSY edit – spoiler warning ***

Also, the pasty pink/white German hippy was half Aboriginal? How did I not see that coming a mile away? So obvious!

just watched BND and having lived in rural NT in the 70's and 80's BND exmplefied what was happening at the time (and yes I drove up there in a kombi). The film highlighted some social issues but also tapped into Aboriginal humour. GREAT STUFF!

Hi Lance

Glad to hear that you, like so many others, have enjoyed Bran Nue Dae. I'm starting to feel a bit lonely!

Believe it or not, I'm actually usually a big defender of Australian cinema and one of my arguments is exactly your point that Australian audiences have been fed a diet of Hollywood crap for so long that they are unable to appreciate local cinema. Maybe in this instance I am guilty of that.

Cheers
Thomas

PS I like how you used American spelling conventions in your comment - very ironic!
