I think <em>Croupier</em> still is the film that truly launched Owen's career as that was when most audience members, myself included, first noticed him. <em>Bent</em> is actually the film he did right before <em>Croupier</em>. I should have mentioned this in my review but <em>Bent</em> also features Ian McKellen and Mick Jagger in significant cameo roles and if you look closely you'll also spot at-the-time-unknown actors like Jude Law and Paul Bettany playing Nazis! I’d never heard of Bent either until recently. I think Croupier still is the film that truly launched Owen’s career as that was when most audience members, myself included, first noticed him. Bent is actually the film he did right before Croupier.

I guess most people assume Owen's career really began with <em>Croupier</em>, but it's interesting to discover there's something of note pre-dating even that.
