I know what you are saying and I usually hate the young girl/old man dynamic (I'm looking at you French cinema!) However, I think Allen nicely spares us from the details in this case and simply uses the scenario in order to facilitate gags.

Boris Yelnikoff and Walt Kowalski - now that would be an awesome pairing! Come on fan fiction writers - get to work!

Every time I watch a Woody Allen movie I cant help but feel like I'm just watching a dirty old man's fantasy playing out on screen. His obsession with young girls is quite unsettling at times.

That said, there is a charm to this movie that makes all the above bearable and the fast paced dialogue keeps the movie bouncing along.

The character of Boris almost feels misplaced or wasted in this movie somehow. I cant quite put my finger on it but for me, I would have almost preferred watching Boris in a movie without the whole young girl story arc and just enjoyed him unleashing his grumpy old man routine on the world.

How awesome would it have been to see Walt Kowalski from Gran Torino show up as one of Boris's friends? Now THAT would be a great movie!
