Its charms aren't obvious, which I think is partly why it got under my skin to the degree that it did. I saw <em>The Yards</em> quite a while ago and remember thinking that it had a quality to it that I hadn't encountered in American cinema before, but perhaps was not yet fully developed - or maybe I failed to fully appreciate it at the time? Perhaps I should revisit. I'm ashamed to say that I'm yet to see <em>We Own the Night</em>. I was moving from one hemispheres to another when it was released in the cinema and I haven't had a chance to catch it since. It is right at the top of my "Recent films I've missed and need to catch up on" list. And yes, I literally do have a list. I loved Gray's first two films, especially <em>The Yards</em>, but this is definitely his finest achievement so far. What did you think of <em>We Own the Night</em>?
