I wondered sometimes (like during any of the explosion scenes) if Wolverine's director was trying to poke fun of the entire super hero movie genre.

Yes, Hugh Jackman’s company Seed Productions was one of the production companies that made the film, which therefore also makes Jackman one of the film’s producers. I think Jackman also strongly influenced the script’s development.

In the comics Wolverine was always the deepest and most interesting character. He is almost an anti-hero in some of the comic titles. Too bad the X-men movies came first because the Wolverine movie should have been the R rated adults only movie to the X-Men's Superhero popcorn movies. Didnt Jackman's production company have something to do with getting this movie made?

Oh it’s completely unnecessary but do we really need to justify the creation of fun, disposal action films? As long as they don’t suck they are fine by me!

I’ve been watching the X-Men series recently, and I don’t quite get why they’re making a separate movie about Wolverine, considering he’s basically the main character in the normal series. And we find out the basics of what happened in his past anyway, and the mystery is part of it’s appeal. I just think that this seems to be yet another unnecessary prequel. :/ But I’ll probably see it anyway.
